Speech Therapy Clinic
Spencer Shuford M.S. CCC-SLP
Hi, I’m Spencer!
I’m a speech-language pathologist and the owner of Spencer Speech Therapy, PLLC here in Boone, North Carolina. I started my practice in 2019 because I wanted to create a place where kids and families feel supported on their communication journey. As a Boone native, it’s been so special to serve the community I call home.
I’ve always loved working with children and their families to help build strong communication skills. I have a special interest in early language development, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and speech sound disorders, but I enjoy working with kids of all ages and abilities. Over the years, I’ve worked in homes, childcare centers, preschools, and clinics, helping children with a variety of speech and language needs, including developmental delays, Down syndrome, childhood apraxia of speech, articulation and phonological disorders, language-based literacy disorders, and social pragmatic challenges. I also have experience supporting children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
I earned my Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from East Tennessee State University and my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Appalachian State University. I’m licensed in North Carolina and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband, Taylor, our son, Tate, and our daughter, Emmie. You’ll often find me gardening, taking walks with our dog, Opie, or enjoying time with family and friends.
